I have never worked in a bar that didn't have a muddler. They are a staple of any bar, home or professional. One of my favorite parts of bartending was making something on the fly (riffing). Being able to grab a few fresh local ingredients from the kitchen, pair it with a base liquor and maybe some supporting liqueurs, and make something unique and in the moment; that in my opinion is one of the purest forms of bartending. And having a work horse of a muddler is absolutely essential for that.
In terms of style, this is not winning any awards. Its massive, clunky, and a bit unwieldly. which is why it took a hit in the style rating. But that is not the point of this tool. This tool gets abused. It is thrown around, used to break ice, soaked in liquor, and just generally beat up. But that is where the cocktail kingdom bad ass muddler shines. It can withstand whatever you throw at it and ask for more.
This is the muddler that I ordered at my bars when I ran them. It is the muddler that I have at home, and it is the muddler that I recommend to any serious bar enthusiast or professional. This can, and should, be the last muddler you buy!
